Noise

I am interested in the 4-seat deluxe hovercraft ( assembled ). My concern is about noise...how loud are they. ( My concern is that the only exposure I've had is a VERY loud, and very large, Canadian Coast Guard hovercraft that passes occasionally near our house on the St. Lawrence Seaway ). Is the noise like a lawn-mower? A Cessna 152?

Any vehicle which relies on air movement for its operation is characteristically loud. Noise is generated by turbulence or Eddy's in much the same way as thunder works. Air particles are excited and bump together. When this happens noise is generated. To minimize noise therefore turbulence has to be kept low. This is achieved by good engineering practices - one of these practices often referred to as streamlining, helps. Keeping fan tip speed low is also important. We try to do all of the above. Out craft should like an industrial vacuum cleaner. The noise level of 83 DB(A) at 50 foot as quoted in our specifications is accurate. You can have conversation on board, with raised voice, when craft is cruising in low wind conditions.
