How important is reverse in a hovercraft? I am in the prelimanary stages of buying a hovercraft, and reverse seems like a logical requirment. Olso what other items would you consider essental. Any Input? Thanks Mike

Mike,
If you own a Hovertrek that has reverse buckets, you'll wonder how others ever manage without them. Thay give you so much additional manueverability. Here's an example of reverse thrust usage that would not be obvious: You're coming around a right turn bend in a river at a good clip with the nose pointed into the turn, and you see a boulder directly in your path. Instead of having to slow down and turn you craft left or right, which might then cause other problems, you simply maintain your heading, and apply both buckets 3/4 reverse, and you will be pulled to the left, out of the way of the rock without ever changing your heading, and then release the buckets as soon as you know the path is clear, and you lose no momentum and speed. No other hovercraft can pull off a manuever like that.
One good resource is to read this page http://www.neoterichovercraft.com/about_neoteric/why_choose_us.htm
and compare the Neoteric technical features against other hovercraft. One thing that is often overlooked is the unique and amazing trailer they make. When I go to hover rallies I always see people struggling to get the hovers on and off of large bulky trailers. With the Neoteric trailer I can unload the hovercraft in a tight space by myself in less than a minute, with ease and load it up the same way too. It's so small and light weight, and makes underbody repairs a snap.
