Is there an advantage to having 2 slightly smaller ducted fans instead of 1 larger single ducted fan for thrust?

The selection of one or more thrust ducts is an engineering decision which results as a solution to meeting the requirements of a particular hovercraft specification. For example, if height must be limited for stability, low cross-wind effects, or to pass under low objects, then two ducts would be better than one.
