hi. i am interested in building a hovercraft that would primarily be used for ice fising. i have a couple questions i would like some answers to.

My first question is what size of engine i would need for a projest like this and approxamently how much this would cost. The second question is about reverseing and braking. from what i have read you at Neoterichhovercraft are the only people in the would that have a reverse on your hovercrafts. i am wondering if i used a system somewhat like yours if it would be legal to do this. i am also wondering if i need reverse and bracking on my hovercraft. The third question is if haveing 2 smaller engines (1 for trust,1 for lift) instead of 1 larger one be cheaper and if it would work. My last question is if i need a license to operate a hovercraft in canada.

Author 290190, you would be well advised to start with a copy of Light Hovercraft design as this will help answer most of your questions. Light Hovercraft design explains what you need to know about designing a high performance reverse thrust control system.Once you experience the usefullness of reverse thrust all Neoteric customers say, "Reverse thrust is essential." No license is required to operate a recreational Hovercraft in Canada. Light Hovercraft Design (part #0004) sells for $29.

I have been flying hovercraft for 15 years in rescue and recrational situations. I only started flying a Hovertrek with reverse for about the last 1 1/2 when we obtained one for the department, and its amazing to see how much more the craft is capable of. In fact I have since re-written our specs so that any hovercraft to be obtained in the future for the department must have reverse ability.
